SUMMARY

The Fuel Sales Representative is responsible for new business development and account management of the fuel division. This will be achieved through prospecting and winning new business in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. A successful Sales Representative will cultivate and grow new and existing customer relationships to drive and support growth within the Transport Operations business unit.

 

DUTIES 

  • Responsible for meeting with current and prospective customers to solicit business and respond to inquiries within a geographic area.
  • Overnight and daily travel within the region to customer locations as required.
  • Provide proper communications (personal, electronic, voice and written) with customers and prospects on product pricing, availability, and quality.
  • Understand the technical aspects of product quality, logistics, pricing, and customer risk management strategies.
  • Understand the competitive landscape. 
  • Address customer service concerns related to billing, invoicing, and pricing as they arise and escalate as necessary.
  • Maintain metrics to demonstrate market penetration into the region and leads to hard sales. 
  • Be available to take and proactively respond to after hour/weekend customer emergency calls.
  • Take calls from customers to quote prices and make sales.
  • Develop effective relationships with supplier representatives and fuel terminal managers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of geographic area and locations of potential clients within the region
  • The selected candidate must have effective interpersonal skills with the ability to balance business needs with customer/client needs. 
  • Solid closing skills and ability to build value-added long-term relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills for communicating with a diverse customer base.   
  • Ability to increase market share and customer retention.
  • Ability to generate a high closing rate through a consultative selling approach.
  • Must maintain active target customer accounts and prospect lines.
  • Must have proficient skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work independently. 
  • Self-motivated business professional capable of making independent decisions under pressure.

 

KEY CANDIDATE SKILLS

  • 3 to 5 years commercial sales experience in a Business-to-Business environment.
