Role Summary

As the Environmental Safety Specialist, you will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with corporate safety and health programs, while serving as a local EHS subject matter expert and partnering with the business to achieve continuous improvement in workplace health and safety. This position will support our U.S. locations, and will be based out of our Itasca, Illinois facility.

In This Role, You Will Focus On:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of safety programs, policies, and training to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with the Fellowes Safety Management System.
  • Managing safety reporting tools, analyzing data for trends, and partnering with ESS to drive continuous improvement and reduction goals.
  • Leading and participating in audits, inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analyses to strengthen safety performance.
  • Administering and maintaining key ESS systems, including the Learning Management System, databases, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental permitting, OSHA recordkeeping, and critical safety programs (e.g., LOTO, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation).
  • Coordinating safety communications, awareness campaigns, committee meetings, and recognition programs to support a positive safety culture.
  • Preparing and maintaining regulatory records, chemical inventories, safety data sheets, emergency response plans, and business continuity plans.
  • Overseeing contractor safety compliance and supporting emergency management preparedness and response activities.

What You Bring to the Team

  • At least 3 years experience
  • Proficiency in interpretation and application of regulatory standards.
  • Strong familiarity with continuous improvement methodology and the ability to effectively take initiative in executing such plans.
  • Experience authoring technical training, written programs, and procedures.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, and/or transportation environment.
  • Experience with safety software programs and Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Ability to influence positive change without direct authority.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • OSHA 30, 511 and/or 501 for General Industry are a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

The hiring range for this position in Itasca, IL is $70,000 - $80,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills and experience, among other factors. An annual incentive may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
