Physical Requirements
May include sitting/standing and/or computer work greater than 5 hours at a time. May require the ability to reach items above shoulder level and be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Repetitive Motion.
Shift
Primarily Monday-Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends depending on departmental needs.
Job Summary
The Markey Cancer Center, Clinical Research Organization is recruiting a Nurse Navigator. This position will provide resources to help aid referring physicians from community hospitals and self-referred patients to find and volunteer for participation in complex clinical trials of Markey Cancer Center, both for inpatient and outpatient care. This position and the Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network are recruiting a Nurse Navigator. This position will will offer timely, integrated, and coordinated assessment of eligibility for trials, pre-appointment testing (advanced imaging, biopsy, pathologic assessment and laboratory evaluation), assistance and rapid attainment of appointments for Markey clinical research providers which will enhance the physician referrals for clinical trials and the patient experience while at Markey. This position will also facilitate communication, and ensure timeliness of referrals, an essential part of clinical trial participation. The Nurse Navigator will work with patients and members of the Markey Cancer Center clinical care team; and the clinical care teams throughout the process to help patients “navigate” their way to timely and quality care and to assist in overcoming any barriers to care. Duties will include communication with patients, families and physicians to streamline patient access to care at Markey Cancer Center.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will possess working knowledge of electronic health records for inpatient/outpatient. Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications is encouraged.

BSN degree plus three years oncology experience preferred.
