ABOUT THE ROLE

Responsible for providing stakeholder communication and marketing (planning, delivery, and evaluation) for a list of journals/portfolios. This role supports journal content growth by driving awareness of titles in key markets and author acquisition through targeted outreach campaigns.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • In alignment with journal development objectives, predominantly focusing on driving content growth, this position will manage budgets for a list of journals and lead campaigns, which may include: author acquisition, retention, and advocacy strategies. Campaign strategy reviewed and approved by Journals MM.
  • Work in partnership with publishers and journal editors to identify key content topics and target areas for driving engagement with researchers informed by journals datapoints (usage, submissions trends, discipline market data).
  • In collaboration with publishers, monitor journal metrics and adapt marketing approaches where appropriate to deliver on title-level targets.
  • Apply an understanding of the journals author experience, familiarity with the scholarly publishing environment and competitor landscape, as well as audience segmentation, to optimize channel and messaging choices in campaign planning, with oversight of Journals MM.
  • Ensure external and internal stakeholders are apprised of journal plans and understand how they contribute to agreed journal priorities.

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience managing expectations and satisfaction of external stakeholders (societies, editors), discerning appropriate levels of communication and service
  • Ability to think strategically about products and markets and demonstrate proficiency in digital marketing
  • Ability to develop, implement, and improve marketing strategies, using all available analytics to make informed decisions and to improve outcomes
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders in diverse locations and functions
  • Experience managing multiple campaigns and deadlines, prioritizing based on business goals and data, and remaining resilient under pressure and changing environments
  • Some experience in journals marketing and understanding of the scholarly publishing environment, specifically academic authors desirable but not required

Salary: $51,459 - $60,000 dependent on skills and experience
