Academic Advisor
The Academic Advisor will provide academic advising to undergraduate students seeking academic credentials (majors, minors, and/or certificates) through various Dietrich School and/or CGS departments and programs in the Social Sciences. The advisor will be cross-trained to provide academic advising services in areas that may include, but are not limited to, Law, Criminal Justice, and Society, Urban Studies, the International Studies co-major, etc. Prior academic or professional experience in these areas is a plus. The advisor will be expected to gain familiarity with other academic programs within the Dietrich School and CGS to provide advising services as needed.
Utilizes advanced advising knowledge, theory, and practical experience to serve as an academic liaison for students to identify academic and career goals, select appropriate courses, and plan for degree attainment. Manages small to medium-sized, moderately complex projects.
Must be able to use a computer and keyboard. Must be able to use video communication technology (TEAMS, ZOOM, etc). Work is frequently done by phone, email, in-person, or using video technology. The ability to communicate in clear and concise fashions is essential.
This position is generally sedentary within an office setting, but the ability to travel around campus is necessary.
