Real Property Advisor - Military veterans preferred

We are seeking a Realty Specialist through the DoD SkillBridge program to provide on-site support at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), TX.   This internship is designed exclusively for transitioning service members and provides valuable civilian work experience in real estate operations. The position is unpaid, as SkillBridge allows service members to continue receiving their military pay and benefits while gaining on-the-job training with industry partners. Participants will gain hands-on exposure, building skills that support a successful transition into a civilian career.

JOB DESCRIPTION:   

The Realty Specialist will assist JBSA’s diverse real property mission by supporting data management, real property transactions (acquisitions, leases, disposals, and real estate agreements), and records maintenance. Primary responsibilities include:

• Assist with real property accountability and inventory, including updating records for buildings, land, and facilities.
• Learn to conduct and reconcile physical inventories to ensure accurate property documentation.
• Support preparation and review of real property transactions such as acquisitions, leases, easements, permits, and disposals.
• Assist in organizing and maintaining records and documentation to support audits and compliance with DoD and Air Force standards.
• Learn how to prepare disposal packages and support environmental and compliance reviews.
• Collaborate with engineering, legal, planning, and environmental staff to learn proper coordination of real estate actions.
• Assist with data calls, reports, and program reviews to gain insight into financial accountability processes.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility

• Has served at least 180 days on active duty
• Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
• Will receive an honorable discharge
• Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
• Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.
