Description

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Online and Learning Engagement, the Director will oversee all aspects of Extended Studies' programs and services (entrepreneurial courses, microcredentials, lifelong learning, to name a few). Generate sufficient revenue to meet general fund guarantees and cover all course and program expenses, and revenue share with colleges. Implement institutional strategic direction related to continuing education for all functions assigned to Extended Studies. Oversee the university's Dale Carnegie program and facilitate the delivery of courses and certificate programs with franchisees across the country and the globe. Direct the marketing and promotions efforts for Online and Learning Engagement. Hire, supervise, coach, motivate, and assess staff performance. This position will require high collaboration with various offices across campus and external entities. This position will require work at UCM campuses in Lee's Summit and Warrensburg.

Examples of Duties

Direct all aspects of Extended Studies' programs and services.

  • Component program areas include the delivery of off-campus degree programs (cohort), entrepreneurial courses, limited cost credit, Open University, professional development credits, CEUs, micro-credentials, workshops, seminars, Lifelong Learning, the academic portion of study tours, and providing support for the Missouri Center for Career Education and the Greater KC Writing Project.

Generate sufficient revenue to meet general fund guarantees and cover all course and program expenses. Revenue share with Colleges.
  • Work closely with the Manager, Business and Fiscal Operations to facilitate revenue share with the academic colleges.
  • Work with external organizations on annual tuition changes to Extended Studies tuition rates.
  • Work with deans, department chairs, and faculty on the development of new programming.
  • Maintain program and course budgeting to make go no-go decisions.

Oversee the university's Dale Carnegie program and facilitate the delivery of courses and certificate programs with franchisees across the country and globe.

Implement institutional strategic directions related to continuing education for all functions assigned to Extended Studies.
  • Research to evaluate student satisfaction and program quality
  • Develop and promote quality assurance measures in a variety of modalities accreditation requirements of the Higher Learning Commission.
Direct the marketing and promotions efforts for Online and Learning Engagement.
  • Develop an annual marketing plan and budget in collaboration with the Vice Provost and the Office of Integrated Marketing and Communication (IMC).
  • Ensure all program and marketing materials adhere to university standards set forth by IMC
  • Negotiate marketing contracts for the promotion of programs and courses.
  • Supervise the maintenance of web pages for the division of Online and Learning Engagement
  • Manage Slate operations. Serve as the lead to Slate consultant, manage communication plans, and develop reports.
Hire, supervise, coach, motivate, and assess staff performance.
  • Manage Extended Studies staff, including the Enrollment Specialist, the Missouri Center for Career Education (MCCE) full-time coordinator, and the Director of Academic Outreach.
  • Hire and manage Extended Studies student workers.


Typical Qualifications

Education:
  • Masters Degree Required. Preferably in Business Administration, College Student Personnel Admin or Higher Education

Experience:
  • Five (5) years of work experience required.
  • Three (3) years of Higher Education Administration required, preferably in Continuing Education required.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience required.
