Job Purpose:

Provide best in class procurement and sourcing support to all DPDHL business units within the EMEA region, with a primary focus on our business units in but not exclusively limited to Italy.

Reporting into the EMEA Regional Transportation Category with dotted line reporting into our Head of Procurement in Italy and working closely with colleagues both within our DHL Italy and other European business units, this is an interface role for specific procurement, supplier management and sourcing activities relating to Transportation.

Your role with involve supporting our business units in Italy with supplier engagement, market intelligence and sourcing processes with an average spend ranging from €1M to €30M per tender.

Overall spend in excess of €130M.

Your tasks:

  • Provide professional sourcing support for key business initiatives, supply market research / intelligence to support business decisions in investments and budgets and establishment/maintenance of local or regional frame contracts.
  • Identify and secure sourcing opportunities and assist in the development of supplier relationships. Manage initial sourcing engagement and identify customer specific challenges. Project monitoring & management.
  • Support the business in its decarbonization journey via engagement with existing and new supplier base to explore greener alternatives.
  • Ensure required compliance regulations are adhered to, including respective Environmental, Social, Governance and enterprise risk management implications.
  • Achieving greatest value contribution, benefit realization and efficiency from all procurement activities and ensuring fulfillment of joint goals with internal business partners by meeting their demands in terms of quality, price and service.
  • Integrate Procurement into business planning and thinking via effective influencing skills, supporting the development of the EMEA Transportation category as a sustainable product within GBS procurement.
  • Be an interactive and participative team member within the local business unit, Italy Procurement and EMEA Transport category communities.

Your profile:

  • More than 3 years within a similar Transportation sourcing role, or more than 5 years’ experience within a supply chain operations role.
  • Fluent in Italian and English (Written/Verbal), additional languages desirable but not essential.
  • Experience and understanding of Transportation business (Road) within and outside of DPDHL. Additional experience in Air & Ocean Freight desirable but not essential.
  • Procurement background with specialization in Transportation and Logistics services or significant operations expertise in Italian Road Transportation.
  • Ability to manage complex projects under time pressure.
  • Passionate to work in very agile environments and ability to adjust to changing requirements.
  • High degree of customer orientation.
  • Strong analytical and negotiating skills.
  • Passionately driving own ideas and convincing people of the value of the procurement offering.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Procurement or Supply Chain related qualification desirable, but not essential.
