Retail Shift Lead (Part Time)



The Office of Business, Hospitality and Auxiliary Services (BHAS) leads the University's foundational business services and is one of the many units under Finance and Operations. BHAS performs critical services to ensure our students, staff, faculty, and visitors have exceptional experience on campus including,

Job Summary

Operates point of sale system, reconciles tills and daily sales, processes exchanges and returns, and assists with opening and closing the store. Serves in a lead capacity over other employees and provides day-to-day direction. Designs appealing displays, replenishes stock, and inventories stock and sales rooms. Delivers effective customer service, fulfills order requests, performs overrides and voids, and mitigates escalated customer services issues. Reports suspicious activity to avoid inventory shrinkage.


Essential Functions

Candidate will open and/or close store. The essential functions includes:

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Attention to accuracy and details

  • Basic computer data entry skills

  • Product knowledge

  • Process online sales

  • Assisting customers with selection of merchandise

  • Supervision of student workers as well as assigning tasks to student workers

  • Ensure that student workers are following customer service standards

  • Ability to operate standard retail equipment

  • Ability to process variety of transactions such as cash, checks, bankcard, panther funds, gift certificates & cards, University requisitions, credit memos, and bookstore accounts

  • The incumbent will receive, stock and merchandise product daily and be responsible for maintaining the sales floor.

  • The ability to transport up to (50) pounds, spend many hours moving about the store.

  • Participation in off-site events, incumbent is required to work 22.5 hour per week along with Saturday, Sunday, Holiday and overtime hours will be required as needed.


Physical Effort

Sitting, standing, and walking. Requires frequent lifting, carrying and moving heavy objects, up to 50lbs. Requires standing for long hours at a time.
