Alternate Perspectives, Inc. (API) is seeking a Custodian to help keep our facilities in top shape! If you take pride in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and organization, this is your chance to create a positive and welcoming environment for students and staff.
If you want to be a part of a dynamic team that helps young people ages 16-24 years old, this job is for you! You will be a part of the nation's most successful youth training and education program, Job Corps, for the past 60 years.
What You'll Do:
- Maintain Floors & Surfaces – Scrub, strip, wax, buff, and sweep to keep floors spotless.
- Sanitize Restrooms & Fixtures – Ensure all areas meet high hygiene standards.
- Dust & Clean Office Spaces – Desks, bookshelves, cabinets, and more.
- Manage Waste Disposal – Collect and remove trash, litter, and debris.
- Exterior Maintenance – Keep entrances, sidewalks, and stairways clean and welcoming.
- Groundskeeping – Mow, trim, weed, fertilize, and maintain outdoor spaces.
- Preventive Maintenance – Conduct regular inspections and upkeep.
- Supervise & Mentor Students – Provide guidance to those in custodial work-based learning programs.
- Promote Safety & Cleanliness – Set high workplace cleanliness standards.
- Foster a Respectful & Inclusive Environment – Maintain a space free from harassment and intimidation.
What We're Looking For:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Basic Knowledge of Cleaning Agents – Waxes, polishes, disinfectants, etc.
- Custodial Experience Preferred – Prior experience in maintenance or janitorial work is a plus!
- Strong Communication Skills – Ability to engage with students and staff.
- Attention to Detail & Organization – Keeping facilities spotless and running smoothly.
- Valid Driver's License with an Acceptable Driving Record.
