What You Will Do

The primary purpose of an Admission Coordinator is to inform prospective students and their families of educational opportunities available to them at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville by: advising and counseling prospective students and their families; interacting with counselors, faculty and administrators; making public presentations; representing the University at college day/night programs at high schools, colleges and college fairs; assuming responsibility for and assisting with special projects. The role of an Admission Coordinator is to serve both prospective students and the University community. Outreach efforts are focused on increasing enrollment by attracting academically strong students from diverse backgrounds who value citizenship and integrity.

In addition to these responsibilities, this position oversees and manages critical projects including human resource management (students) that allows us to meet our enrollment goals and brings in millions of dollars of revenue in the form of tuition, fees, and room and board. This position works with a substantial budget related to the various responsibilities and provides crucial services and responsibilities that impact enrollment at SIUE. It is an elevated position that encompasses critical efforts and initiatives in addition to the responsibilities of an admission counselor. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree
Admission counseling experience
Proven written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated positive work ethic
Interpersonal and counseling skills
Organization and time management skills
Problem solving skills and abilities
Understand and adhere to the Statement of Practices and Courtesies for the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), as well as both the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC) and the Missouri Association for College Admission Counseling (MOACAC).
Must maintain a valid Illinois driver's license
