Senior Research Scientist



Job Summary

Serves as subject matter expert and conducts independent scientific research projects from inception to presentation. Prepares and crafts various complex documentations of research results into manuscripts, proposals, grant applications, and presentations. Trains undergraduates, junior lab members, and research technicians. Manages laboratory policies and coordinates high-level work and project development in collaboration with other specialists.


Essential Functions

The successful candidate will be expected to perform research focused on the pathogenesis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He or she will develop novel hypotheses and will design, execute and oversee experiments related to these projects. This will include murine models of intestinal inflammation, cell culture studies, and standard molecular techniques for analysis. In addition, this individual will oversee analyses of mitochondrial function and cellular metabolism using the Oroboros Oxygraph 2K analyzer and other modalities on cells and tissue. This position will also involve the analysis of large datasets including RNA-seq and Metabolomics data.


Physical Effort

Carrying up to 50lbs of lab equipment to different stations may be required.
