Detroit Defense is seeking a Model Based System Engineering Modeler/Architect to join our Engineering Team.  This position will primarily be onsite supporting our government customer in their Warren, MI office.


The MBSE Modeler / Architect will support systems engineering activities across multiple combat vehicle and defense platform programs. This role focuses on developing, maintaining, and evolving system models to enable requirements traceability, architecture analysis, and system integration. Working under the guidance of senior systems engineers and program leadership, the candidate will contribute to the development and maturity of the next generation of design and analysis tools and methodologies using MBSE in a collaborative team environment.

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain SysML based models to represent system architectures, behaviors, interfaces, and requirements.
  • Translate system and stakeholder needs into model elements to support analysis and trade studies.
  • Support transition from traditional, independent program deliverables including Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs), and System Architecture Documents to dynamically integrated, but exportable MBSE      viewpoints.
  • Assist in preparing materials for engineering reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) using MBSE outputs.
  • Collaborate with platform systems engineers, software/hardware engineers, and program stakeholders to ensure modeling efforts align with system requirements and design intent.
  • Participate in configuration control and version management of models.
  • Contribute to the evolution of MBSE processes, model templates, and best practices within the organization.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a systems engineering or MBSE-related role.
  • Hands on experience with SysML and MBSE tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, or similar.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States Government Secret Clearance and Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Experience supporting DoD programs or ground vehicle platforms.
  • Familiarity with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and/or Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
  • Exposure to systems integration, test planning, or requirements verification.
  • Knowledge of scripting or automation within MBSE tools (e.g., using MATLAB, Python, or Cameo plugins).
