Noyes Lab Data Scientist I



Qualifications include: Highly developed skills, specifically focused on the analysis or RNA-seq and ATAC-seq data, in bulk and single cell. Completion of related coursework in Bioinformatics, related field or significant previous work experience and training required. Responsibilities can include regular independent coordination of programs and/or projects involving highly complex analysis of data. Other responsibilities include day to day support of laboratory activities, regular independent decision making. Candidates with the ability to teach others in the lab to do basic computational analysis would be preferred. Limited, if any, supervision.


Job Summary

Assists in the execution of research objectives, data collection, and data management. Performs routine procedures, statistical analysis, scientific analysis, and reporting. Integrates data and data sets, performs descriptive and exploratory analysis, and creates routine reports and analysis reporting tools. Utilizes statistical software and adheres to all protocols.


Essential Functions

The Noyes lab works at the boundary of systems biology and synthetic biology to develop novel tools for genome editing, epigenetic editing, and cellular reprogramming. The Noyes lab uses high throughput screens to both understand and engineer protein function. Example applications are the development of novel genome and epigenetic editors, in addition to synthetic transcription factor networks for cellular reprogramming. The objective of this work is to develop therapeutics that will address genetic diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, and Autoimmune Diseases. The candidate will assist in the execution of these research objectives through data analysis and management of common high throughput data streams including RNA-seq and ATAC-seq, both in bulk and at the single-cell level. The candidate will integrate these data and data sets, perform descriptive and exploratory analysis, and create routine report and analysis reporting tools. Utilizes statistical software and adheres to all protocols.


Physical Effort

Physical effort associated with wet lab work, i.e. standing while conducting experiments, sitting while working on computer, walking back and forth in the lab to sinks and microscopes, lifting packages less than 20lbs., etc.
