The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is seeking a highly motivated and self-driven individual with electrical background to join the EPRI Plant Reliability and Resilience (PRR) Program. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead high visibility research projects and industry initiatives in the nuclear power industry in the areas of electrical component/system design, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs. The PRR research portfolio focuses on technical guidelines, methods, software tools, and knowledge transfer tools that reflect best practices and engineering judgment gathered from global nuclear plant experience. One team, one goal: help make nuclear power plants safe, reliable, and affordable.
Ideal Experience:
Broad industry experiences relating to the maintenance, testing, design, and/or troubleshooting of electrical system components in power plants.
In-depth knowledge in the areas of emergency diesel generators, circuit breakers, batteries, plant electrical distribution, motors, are all a plus.
Project management experience beneficial
Electrical engineering degree
Prior interaction with the EPRI project as a technical advisory group member, attendance at the EPRI electrical user group.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements:
Works independently on technical activities without direct supervision.
Regularly demonstrates responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives or problems where the relationships between cause and effect are difficult to establish and little or no precedence exists, and the use of creative and imaginative thinking is required.
Maintains familiarity with the progress and problems in assigned technical areas.

Has developed relationships with primary advisors to a research area.
Provides assistance to the EPRI sales staff in Member Services and EPRI International.
Effectively communicates strategies and results, expressing thoughts clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing, to subject matter experts, program members and advisors through guidelines, reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops and conferences.
Regularly communicates and coordinates work activities across programs.
May provide oversight of a project team to assure technical and financial milestones are met.
Organizes the external and interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.
Supports the planning and execution of complex project work within the technical department to meet member/client objectives; prepares and presents research reports.
Manages small or medium (less complex) projects including budgets and resources without direct people management responsibilities.
Influences project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work.
Increased interactions and coordination of EPRI work with national and international technical networks (e.g, manufacturers, consultants, academia and research organizations)
Begins to lead proposal efforts and new promotional work.
Develops research or services opportunities of value to EPRI members that fit EPRI’s mission and capabilities. This will include solving customer problems, producing insights and information vital to the members, and delivering information in a manner that members and customers can and will apply.
Continues to provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.

Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
8–12 years of experience working with electrical systems in nuclear power plants preferred. Experience outside of this range will be considered.
Navy nuclear program experience is also highly valued.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Extensive experience in the maintenance, testing, design, and troubleshooting of electrical system components within nuclear power facilities.
Deep technical knowledge of emergency diesel generators, circuit breakers, batteries, relays, plant electrical distribution systems, and motors.
A recognized thought leader and strategic research thinker with a proven ability to develop and implement innovative, cross-disciplinary solutions that enhance system reliability, reduce operational costs, and shape long-term decisions through deep analysis and transformative insight
Demonstrates self-motivation and accountability while thriving in collaborative environments, contributing proactively to team goals and shared success.
Possesses excellent public speaking and interpersonal communication skills, with a natural ability to engage customers in a friendly, professional manner and represent the organization with confidence and clarity.
Strong project management background with demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, managing risk, and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Prior involvement in Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) projects, including participation as a Technical Advisory Group member.
Active engagement in EPRI user groups or other industry forums like IEEE or ASME is a plus.
