Post Doctoral Associate
Med-Dermatology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25005403)

The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine’s Department of Dermatology is searching for Postdoctoral Associates with interests in immune system engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who thrive in an interesting, challenging, and highly collaborative work environment. Selected Postdoctoral Associates will focus on the study of cutaneous biology and immune function, and leverage that evolving understanding to develop novel skin-targeted strategies to modulate local and systemic immune responses. Applications include the development of preventive and therapeutic strategies to treat cancer, infections, and autoimmunity. Efforts are multidisciplinary and translationally focused and include a broad range of experimental animal and translational ex vivo human models. Specific projects are designed to generate the foundation for the candidate’s future independent career. Postdoctoral Associates will have the opportunity to help mentor junior trainees and assist in the organization and management of resources and equipment.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Immunology or a closely related field and experience working with common immunological techniques, including in vivo animal models, cell and tissue culture systems, and relevant cellular, proteomic, and genomic analysis methods. Experience in bioinformatics is desirable. The successful candidate will have effective written and verbal communication skills. Eligibility to apply for NIH Training grants would be advantageous.

Responsibilities include conducting research studies, including in vivo animal studies, and collecting, analyzing and interpreting data. The Postdoctoral Associate will attend weekly meetings to discuss the research plans and progress, prepare quarterly reports summarizing progress, write papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and develop funding proposals.
