Design Engineering Co-op - Military veterans preferred

Job purpose

Provides engineering support through a structured method of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience, receiving academic credit for the job experience.

Duties and responsibilities

• Create CAD models and drawings of products, production tooling, inspection fixtures, and special equipment. 
• Assist in assembling tools and magnetic assemblies. ? Readily assist production, engineering, and floor operators as required. 
• Engineering Co-Op will be expected to complete a key project and present findings to management during their Co-Op block(s). 
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Requires enrollment for a BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering or other related engineering discipline. 
• Experience using CAD software, Solidworks heavily preferred. 
•  Experience reading and creating mechanical drawings, knowledge of GD&T desired. 
•  Previous work experience in a manufacturing type environment desired.

 Working conditions

• May be exposed to industrial oils, toner, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals. NOTE: All safety precautions will be used. 
• Could work in areas with excessive noise. NOTE: Ear protection available. 
• Plant wide climate control and air conditioning
• Shift: 8:00AM to 5:00PM Mon-Fri, 1hr lunch 
• Ability to work beyond normal hours if needed

 Physical requirements

• Could require intermittent and long periods of sitting and/or standing.
• Required to do repetitive work.
• Periodic lifting of materials not to exceed 50 pounds.
