Job Title: CNC Laser/Plasma Operator (Messer Operator)
Department: Production
Summary Operates various CNC Laser and Plasma cutting machines by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
• Responsible for operating a 6000Watt fiber laser/400AMP plasma cutter using a Messer based controller and a supplied nest as well as preventative maintenance and escalation
• Perform necessary quality inspections to begin production on each job
• Use a Brinell hardness scope to check material for hardness and properly store coupons to comply with company traceability system
• Responsible for pulling, benching & skidding work
• Responsible for making sure work orders are complete and moved through PLEX system in a timely manner
• Responsible for maintaining the consumables associated with the cutting operation
• Operate overhead crane for loading and unloading pieces
• Read and interpret blueprint drawings including both standard and metric dimensioning
• Responsible for the compliance of safety, quality and throughput goals
• Maintain quality of work and to ensure defects are not passed through the rest of the operation
• Uses basic measuring equipment to inspect quality of work including, but not limited to, tape measures, calipers, micrometers and pin gauges, etc.
• Uses Plate Blaster and Forklift

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
