ROLE PURPOSE:
  • Manage the Country's Gateway by planning and implementing strategies and tactics to ensure improvement in both service and transit time performance whilst managing costs.
  • Provide direction and leadership aligned to the company's strategy.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • On the basis of the operations strategy, plans management of day-to-day volume in line with profitability and cost effectiveness
  • Arrange the movement of freight by various transportation methods in the most profitable way
  • Monitor daily operating plans and allocates resources as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, regulatory, and company policies.
  • Drive continuous improvement of operational processes and procedures to maximize productivity.
  • Manage the Gateway operating budget and proposals for investments in infrastructure, technology, equipment,  systems, or other resources at Gateway level.
  • Balance service and quality targets with productivity & effectiveness initiatives.
  •  Liaise within organization to co-ordinate transport and distribution schedules to meet the agreed delivery times.
  • Convince others in the organization to accept operational solutions and changes.
  • Plan and implement Gateway facilities, equipment and infrastructure in accordance with regional guidelines and  local requirements
  •  Implement Gateway projects to address regional and network imperatives and programs.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
  • Develop a culture of quality, service excellence (for internal customers), flexibility and cost consciousness.
  • Identify training needs and career development opportunities to drive a high performance team.
  •  Identify and succession planning for high potentials.
  • Develop KPIs with team members and monitor individual performance.
Qualifications - External
YOUR PROFILE:
  • Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, resourcefulness and empathy. 
  • Analyzes and resolves complex cross-functional issues.
  • Well-developed relationship skills and ability to network with multiple levels of an organization and other business units?.
  • 8-10 years related experience
  • Must be from the same industry
  • Proven success in people and business leadership
  • Manage and lead team through broad practical expertise and preeminent expertise in operations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
