Occupational Therapist



University of Pittsburgh, Department of Counseling and Behavioral Health, seeks a licensed Occupational Therapist, OTR-L, with a passion for assistive technology and client-centered care. The Occupational Therapist will conduct comprehensive assistive technology evaluations, develop and implement individualized recommendations, and provide training to clients and their support networks.

Location of position: The Commonwealth Technical Institute (CTI) at Hiram G. Andrews Center (HGAC) in Johnstown, PA. Travel is required throughout the state of PA.

Key Responsibilities:

-Perform assistive technology evaluations in a variety of settings including, classrooms, homes, and work sites.

-Assess client needs and match them with appropriate assistive technologies to promote independence and improve functional outcomes.

-Develop customized intervention plans and provide ongoing training and support to clients, families, and caregivers.

-Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care.

-Educate professionals, clients, and community partners on assistive technology tools and strategies.

-Maintain and organize equipment, labs, and technology resources.

-Contribute to research and development efforts, including initiatives involving artificial intelligence (AI).

-Design and modify assistive devices as needed to meet specific client goals.

-Supervise and mentor graduate students, interns, and observers affiliated with University of Pittsburgh programs.

Qualifications:

-Minimum is Bachelor's degree; Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution preferred.

-Current PA licensure (or eligibility) as an Occupational Therapist.

-Experience in assistive technology or rehabilitation preferred; ATP certification a plus.

-Familiarity with a wide range of assistive technology solutions including computer access, cognitive aids, sensory supports, home modifications, seating, mobility and ergonomics.

-Strong communication skills and a commitment to consumer-centered, functional outcomes.

-Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary setting.

-Ability to work analyze situations, think creatively, and problem solve to provide practical solutions for customers with unique needs.

-Ability to travel to school, home, and work environments throughout the state of PA.

Provides training to clients and their support networks.

Physical Effort

This position requires the individual to move throughout a large building, as well as the ability to travel by car to visit clients in Johnstown, PA and the surrounding area.
