Overview

The primary role of the Solutions Engineer is to provide local Engineering support to the End User Sales Engineers in their quest to deliver commercially attractive solutions to End Users of rotating equipment. The Solutions Engineer performs technical activities such as on-site assessments, root cause analyses, provision of standard upgrade proposals and delivering presentations. The role requires knowledge of centrifugal pumps and systems, customer industries, hydraulics, and rotating machinery reliability best practices as well as established rules as defined in ITT standards and all other relevant international standards. They will also act as the liaison between the local ITT teams and central Engineering support.

Solutions Engineers should maintain personal awareness of current technological advances in pump improvement techniques. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required to project a professional and confident air in front of customers. Solutions Engineers will provide guidance and instruction to fellow Engineers in relation to rotating equipment problem solving as they will serve as subject matter experts.



Responsibilities

•Identify and pursue attractive upgrade opportunities
• Provide engineering and technical support for the selling and execution of service, repair and upgrade activities
• Have knowledge of, and be able to apply, established International as well as internal ITT standards
• Meet challenging deadlines on assigned activities
• Provide assistance to sales force & Pro-Shop operations, as well as customers, to develop the work scope required in solving equipment problems through pump & system modifications & upgrades
• Work with Pro-Specialist Engineers and ITT Centers of Excellence, Product & Engineering Specialists, using corporate technology to determine customized solutions to complicated pump problems
• Collect site data to assist team efforts in troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis activities
• Assist in Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) efforts to develop & implement process improvements which continuously enhance performance & service to the customer
• Demonstrate market knowledge of pricing and competitive trends relating to service & repair and upgrade services  
• Mentor and oversee training of other developing Engineers
• Establish & maintain close working relationships with all other Pro-Services personnel to promote the company’s best interests
• Establish and manage all technical and commercial aspects of technical solutions associated with rotating equipment and deliver these recommended solutions in the form of technical/commercial proposals in a timely manner
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of technical presentations promoting ITT's technology & application expertise
• Assess the potential commercial prospects of aftermarket technical requests
• Provide Pro-Shop Engineering teams with recovery and improvement recommendations based on equipment disassembly inspection reports
• Visit End User sites to explain and convince customers of the technical and commercial benefits of ITT Upgrade offerings  
• Develop and strengthen customer relationships through routine, proactive and professional interactions

Qualifications



•Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree or equivalent plus 10 years related experience
• Knowledge of Engineering & design software
• Advanced knowledge of pump applications and types; clear understanding of hydraulic fundamentals and how these relate to pumps and pump systems

• Ability to travel 50% of time within Canada

• Knowledge of competitor products and offerings
• Understanding of Life Cycle Costing and Value-Added Pricing
• Highly developed and effective oral and written communications. English speaking.
• Must be customer focused with strong and effective collaborative, interpersonal skills
• Team-player; values involvement of others
• Accountability and execution for completing work timely to a high standard
• Ability to effectively self-manage and perform multiple tasks without being directed; make decisions around priorities
