Job Summary
The Sobriety Treatment and Recovery Teams (START) program integrates what is known as best practice in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services, child welfare practice, and family preservation services to deliver a service approach that addresses the special needs of SUD-affected families involved with the Department for Community Based Services (DCBS). The overall goals of START include child safety, parental sobriety, timely child permanency and family self-sufficiency.

The College of Social Work (CoSW) is seeking a Sobriety Treatment and Recovery Teams (START) Program Coordinator.

In conjunction with the START Leadership Team, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:

Program Administration
  • Develop and facilitate orientation and training for START Family Mentors
  • Act as a liaison between participants, Family Mentors, administration, Department for Community Based Services, and community partners
  • Coordinate data collection on program activities, evaluation, and quality improvement efforts
  • Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate meetings to develop and maintain community partnerships
  • Collaborate with START administration, as well as external partners, to launch new initiatives, further innovate existing programs and ensure all projects meet program objectives

Promotion, Recruitment, and Training
  • Assist with recruitment, screening, selection, and training of Family Mentors
  • Conceptualize and implement plans for retaining Family Mentors
  • Serve as program representative at community and statewide events and meetings to recruit partners and promote program
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings to share information and increase awareness of program services
  • Disseminate promotion strategies to highlight and expand START services and programming

Program Support
  • Collaborate with sponsor, community partners, and START Leadership to assess program needs, desired outcomes, and develop appropriate benchmarks for program activity.
  • Act as central point of contact for Family Mentors, providing ongoing support and oversight
  • Maintain an active Family Mentor caseload
  • Provide professional development and trainings for Family Mentors, community partners and participants

Leadership; Interpersonal Skills, Extensive driving is required.

Preference will be given to candidates with unique life experiences applicable to the position. Three years of experience in peer support preferred.
