Controller: Transport
Role Outline
The Transport Controller is responsible in managing and co-ordinating the movement of goods and vehicles/trucks to ensure timely, sale and efficient delivery by executing the planning in an end-to-end process – e.g. from loading to offloading. The role ensures and executes the efficient flow of goods, and provides operational support to drivers, clients, and internal stakeholders to maintain service excellence
Key areas of responsibility include:
• Transport Planning & Coordination
• Executes planning and scheduling vehicles/trucks for local deliveries.
• Monitor vehicle/truck routes
• Track shipments in real-time to ensure on-time delivery.
• Capture and verify transport data on the system (e.g., trip sheets, PODs, fuel usage).
• Escalate deviations (delays, breakdowns, compliance risks) to the Controller/Manager.
• Compliance & Safety
• Support adherence to company transport policies, SOPs, and safety standards.
• Report and document incidents and accidents.
• Stakeholder Engagement
• Communicate with drivers regarding schedules, documentation, and operational updates.
• Liaise with internal departments (Finance, Warehousing) and external service providers.
• Provide support to clients on queries.
• On-time departure and delivery rate.
• Data accuracy on systems (trip sheets, PODs).
• Maintain and update the Combined Load Register daily to ensure accurate tracking of loads.
• Provide assistance during leave periods, ensuring responsibilities are managed effectively.
Qualifications
• Matric
• Degree/ Diploma in Logistics/ Transport Management (advantageous).
Experience
• 1-3 years’ experience in transport/ logistics environment
• Computer literacy (MS Office, transport management systems)
• Good analytical and numerical skills

• Self-driven – can work independently
• Self-disciplined and organized
Languages
• English - verbal and written
• At least 1 other language - Desirable
