The Assistant Director for Career Advising helps Clark students discover what excites them and turn that into a plan for what's next in their journey. Through one-on-one advising, creative programs, and close collaboration across campus, this position supports students as they explore majors, gain experience, and prepare for life after Clark. It's a great fit for someone who enjoys coaching, connecting, and helping students build confidence in their career journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Career Advising, Programming, & Student Support (80%)

  • Provide one-on-one and group career advising to Clark students on topics such as major and career exploration, job and internship search strategies, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, salary negotiation, and graduate school.
  • Design and facilitate workshops, panels, and events that support career readiness and skill development.
  • Develop and maintain career resources, including guides, templates, and digital content.
  • Collaborate with student organizations and campus partners to deliver targeted programming.
  • Contribute to team meetings, planning sessions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Stay current on labor market trends, industry insights, and best practices in undergraduate career development.

Campus Engagement (20%)

  • Serve as a liaison to academic departments and faculty to integrate career readiness into the undergraduate experience.
  • Collaborate with the employer engagement team to identify and promote relevant opportunities for undergraduate students.
  • Represent the Career Services Center at university events, career fairs, orientations, and other student-facing programs.


Job Requirements:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in career services, academic advising, or a related area.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective workshops and programs.
  • Knowledge of career development theory, job search strategies, and employment trends.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Handshake, LinkedIn, Big Interview, and career assessment tools (e.g., MBTI, Strong).
  • Experience supporting first-generation college students, students from underrepresented backgrounds, and/or international students.
