About the Role

Avathon is seeking a highly motivated Program Manager to oversee the execution of key defense and government programs. The Program Manager will serve as the primary interface with customers, ensuring program delivery, contract compliance, and alignment with mission objectives. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage complex programs, coordinate cross-functional teams, and drive program success from inception through execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, stakeholders, and internal team.
  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of assigned programs to ensure performance, cost, and schedule objectives are met.
  • Develop and manage program schedules, milestones, budgets, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate across engineering, product, and operations teams to deliver program outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support capture and proposal efforts by providing programmatic expertise, execution strategies, and customer insights.
  • Build and maintain strong customer (DoD, Government, and Commercial) relationships to expand Avathons presence and opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver regular status reports, briefings, and metrics to customers and internal leadership.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to ensure not only successful execution, but contract expansion and/or renewal.
  • Provide input to capture and proposal efforts with programmatic expertise
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to support program execution

Required Qualification:

  • US Citizenship Required
  • Have a minimum of 3-5 years of project/program management experience within the defense and government industry, ideally within the technology sector.
  • Have excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of government acquisition processes and contract management (FAR/DFARS, OTA, SBIR, etc.)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
  • Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project proficiency

 

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (Masters degree preferred)
  • Demonstrated success managing complex programs with government and defense customers
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience working with AI, software development, or defense technology solutions
  • PMP Certification
  • This position will be in Austin, Texas/Hybrid
