Purpose:

Performs diversified process technician duties requiring individual initiative and judgment, to ensure safe and efficient process operations that will produce a quality product that satisfies customer's needs.

 

Job Functions/Accountabilities (Essential & Marginal):

Essential:

  • Starts, operates, and stops various types of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and computer equipment by established standards and specifications.
  • Maintains process control.
  • Implements corrective action for various types of processes and equipment when an out-of-control limits situation occurs.
  • Operates various types of analytical equipment within established methods, standards, and specifications.
  • Gathers and records process data from various types of instrumentation.
  • Maintains equipment, tools, and company property within established standards and specifications.
  • Participates in all required training programs.
  • Participates in the development of improvements to the process, procedures, tools, equipment, and operational practices to eliminate or reduce waste and to ensure safe and efficient process operations.
  • Assists in the activities of contractors, maintenance crews, and others who may be performing work at the facility.
  • Continuously seeks ways to improve performance of our plant's operation and ensures that your customer's (both internal and external) needs are met. 
  • Adhere to the quality system.

Marginal:

  • Provides assistance to the receiving/shipment/inventory of materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Chemistry and Math proficiency is required.

Experience:

Minimum two (2) years experience working in an industrial environment required with some background in the chemical industry preferred.

Special Qualifications:

General knowledge of distillation and reaction processes, chemical hazards, safety and environmental regulations and mechanical equipment preferred. Good writing skills required.

 

Travel:

Less than 10%

 

Work Conditions:

Chemical Plant/Manufacturing environment. An extensive amount of time is spent on the floor in a manufacturing plant environment. Plant environment is a multi-acre site. Typical daily assignments are physically demanding, requiring balancing, standing, cleaning, reaching, visual discernment, crawling, climbing, twisting, turning, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, full respiratory function and lifting.
