Responsibilities

This strategic leadership role is responsible for identifying, planning, and implementing programs and initiatives that build and sustain best-in-class process integration standards and manufacturing plant engineering principles. The role partners closely with operations directors, managers, and professionals across the global network to define best practices, processes, and procedures for industrialization. Responsibilities also include coordinating and facilitating training related to industrialization.

 

The position serves as the global lead for new product industrialization and oversees a team of subject matter experts with expertise in industrial engineering, lean manufacturing, project management, supply chain, and quality. Collaboration with plant engineering teams is central to the role, with a focus on developing and deploying standardized approaches to manufacturing engineering across all global operations.

 

This role requires leadership in a multi-site, global environment with diverse products and processes. It involves applying a problem-solving mindset, leveraging lean manufacturing principles, and ensuring business process solutions are aligned with organizational goals. The position also provides strategic oversight of global manufacturing engineering standards and supports all aspects of new process integration.

 

 

 

1. Industrialization Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the development of strategies for moving from product design to mass production.
  • Drive New Product Development (NPD) process changes to ensure the success of Industrialization goals & objectives.
  • Recommend, influence, and implement organizational structure changes to support the success of Industrialization.
  • Ensure appropriate resources are available to support projects and goals (including resources external to MissionOPS and/or MSA).

 

2. New Process Integration Management

  • Act as the liaison between various teams, including R&D, PMO, Quality, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Operations Engineering. · Drive a comprehensive risk register of all industrialization risks (including but not limited to safety, quality, delivery, & cost) and mitigations that can affect the industrialization of the new product. Establish business continuity plans with MissionOPS leaders.
  • Inspire innovation and partner with operations leaders and advanced manufacturing standards to develop new ways to manufacture products more efficiently.
  • Own and drive global plant engineering standards to drive best in class process integration and lean manufacturing.
  • Actively participate and lead defining the global ERP standards to successfully execute manufacturing in the order to fullfillment process.

 

3. Design for Manufacturability (DFM) & Design for Assembly (DFA)

  • Operate directly with design assurance to implement and oversee robust control measures are implemented to ensure final products meet all manufacturing performance requirements (including but not limited to safety, quality, delivery, & cost).
  • Develop processes, standards, and tools to evaluate the design for ease of assembly, manufacturability, material usage, and overall production efficiencies.
  • Work closely with product designers, tooling & manufacturing engineers, and other new product industrialization (NPI) leaders to identify areas of improvement or potential challenges in manufacturing.
  • Implement and verify processes are in place to oversee the testing and validation of production processes, ensuring that the manufacturing process drives the final product requirements. Monitor the quality of the process, including statistical process controls.

 

4. Governance

  • Standardize new process integration practices across all center-led and launch sites.
  • Audit and provide governance to industrialization teams and the NPD process on industrialization requirements.
  • Develop, deploy, and monitor standard processes and tools to ensure industrializations are executed in a consistent manner.

 



Qualifications

  • Experience (required):
    • 10 years manufacturing and assembly experience of complex electromechanical products that rely on some core materials technology.
    • Experience working in new product development and new product industrialization including line design, installation, commissioning, and production ramp up.
    • Automotive, aerospace or defense industry experience.
    • Experience of using tools including but not limited to APQP, PPAP, SPC as well as Production Control Plans.
    • Experience should span both internally manufactured and contract manufactured assemblies and include experience managing operating lines
    • MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience. PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years of equivalent experience
  • Experience (preferred):
    • Experience in managing distributed and indirect teams (domestically and internationally).
  • Education (required):
    • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or related field, preferably from an ABET accredited program
    • MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience. PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years of equivalent experience
  • Education (preferred):
    • Advanced degree
    • PMP (Project Management Professional) 
    • Lean Manufacturing
    • Continuing education in management studies
