Associate Vice President, Network Services (Remote)

Position Summary

The Associate Vice President of Network Services (AVP- NS) is responsible for business development and relationship management for Network Services. AVP-NS is responsible for setting the strategy for development of new services and engagement of members who utilize services delivered by NS. AVP-NS is responsible for delivering revenue for the Network Services Division.

Essential Duties:

  • Focus on relationship building, development, and delivery of new services to the university members, regional network members of Internet2 as well as Industry and Government Affiliate members and international colleagues.
  • Work to ensure that Internet2 delivers existing services and develops new services based on the requirements of our members.
  • Translate emerging technology capabilities into marketable services and ensures Network Services offerings evolve with member needs and industry trends. Working closely with infrastructure and software/systems teams, the AVP-NS identifies opportunities where new technologies can create member value and drives the business strategy for service innovation.
  • Engage in budget preparation by verifying existing revenues and providing revenue projections for upcoming years.
  • Responsible for negotiation of and management of contracts for federal government contracts, capital procurements, and agreements with vendors who provide products or services to NS.
  • Serves as liaison to other divisions such as legal, accounting, HR, TSG on behalf of NS. Also serves in cross-divisional roles to promote efficient and effective practices among the divisions.


The AVP Network Services is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the provisioning and delivery to users of services provided by Internet2 Network Services. This position acts as the "glue" and liaison between departments within Network Services, and other divisions of Internet2. The position requires an awareness of resource availability, capabilities and processes employed by other divisions, and requires an ability to advocate for the member being served by Network Services and encourage all involved to work to best enable the delivery of the required service.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience demonstrating comparable technical competency.
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible professional experience in a combination of project management, system administration, network engineering, and/or software development capacities.
  • 10+ years of experience leading and managing staff or major projects, bringing such projects in on time and on budget, business relationship management, business plan development, budget development and management.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills. Ability to hone ideas and proposals in a manner that depicts goals and services that will be shared and adopted by the community.
  • Ability to evaluate market conditions, ascertain solutions to current or emerging needs of members, and develop a business solution, business plan and marketing strategy for adoption of the service(s).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in areas such as Management, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • Graduate degree or above.
  • Strong relationships with regional network member leadership.
  • Experience in working with university campus IT leaders and/or R&E-focused non-profit organizations.

Salary Range / Pay Grade:

This position is a Senior level role with compensation commensurate with education and experience.

Position Typically Pays: $160,800-201,000

Starting pay is typically from the minimum up to the mid-point of the salary range and varies based on experience. Max Point compensation is posted for pay transparency.

$160,800 (Entry Point)-$201,000 (Mid-Point) - $241,200 (Max Point) / IT-7
