Required License/Registration/Certification
Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS) Licensed Paramedic at time of hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider and Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider within 6 months of hire.
Physical Requirements
The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 pounds on a daily basis; as well as stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Shift
Days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends. 6:45am-3:15pm, M-F would be the primary schedule with the others worked as necessary.
Job Summary
The EMS Educator supports the clinical excellence and professional development of EMS personnel working in both the Emergency Department and ambulance operations at UK HealthCare. This role delivers advanced, real-time clinical consultation and case-based training, develops and facilitates structured educational programs, and coordinates the onboarding process for new staff. The EMS Educator validates competencies through direct observation, skills assessment, and performance review, providing targeted feedback to ensure readiness for independent practice. The role also leads quality management initiatives by reviewing documentation, patient care practices, and protocol adherence, implementing improvements through evidence-based training. In collaboration with EMS leadership, ED leadership, and physician colleagues, this position ensures that paramedics and EMTs are highly skilled, compliant with regulatory standards, and equipped to deliver safe, efficient, and exceptional patient care.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will have strong clinical and communication skills (written and verbal). They must also be highly competent on technology and adept at learning new software systems.

At least five years of paramedic experience and three or more in education.
