Shift
The Visitor Center operates Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm as well as select Saturdays throughout the calendar year. Employees have shifts which include working in the office as well as giving tours that total approximately 4-12 hours each week, based on the student’s availability. An employee’s first semester on staff is spent in shadowing and training. Employees are put on the permanent schedule during their second semester on staff.
Job Summary
The University of Kentucky Visitor Center is a branch of the Office of Undergraduate Admission in which employees are responsible for sharing authentic experiences with over 30,000 prospective students and guests of the university each year. Visitor Center employees have a wide range of duties which include, but are not limited to, serving as campus tour guides as well as student recruiters at university events. Staff members also assist with day-to-day operations at the Visitor Center, including phone and email inquiries, campus visit registration, greeting university guests, and other duties as assigned. Employees of the Visitor Center are committed to representing the compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic University of Kentucky community.

This position is also Federal Work-Study eligible, if you qualify.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Applicants should have strong public speaking skills with the ability to relate to the diverse guests of the university, and applicants should be able to passionately represent the culture of campus. Applicants should be proactive, detail oriented, punctual, reliable, and highly motivated. Preferred applicants must also be able to work closely with the Visitor Center staff and positively contribute to the team environment.

Preferred applicants would have Wildcat Ambassador student organization experience, but not required.
