Manager Production Control and ERP Systems
Location: Nashville, TN

Job summary
NWI Nashville operates as a lean managed company and the Production Control and ERP Manager provides oversight and strategic direction for all aspects of production planning, Enterprise Resource Planning, Configuration Management, Industrial Engineering, and Oversite of our on-site 3rd party logistics and warehouse contractor. This role is responsible for the efficient and accurate translation of demand into a feasible production plan, ensuring optimal inventory levels, high-quality output, and cost-effective operations. The manager is also the primary driver for the implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the company's ERP system as it relates to manufacturing and materials. This crucial roll sets the drum beat of manufacturing within the Nashville facility.
Key responsibilities
Production planning and Configuration Management
Develop, implement, and manage production schedules to meet customer demand and maximize resource utilization.
Monitor production status and adjust schedules as needed to address bottlenecks, delays, or changing priorities.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and sales, to align on production goals and resolve operational issues.
Analyze production data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Manage the new part introduction and engineering change process.
Understand customer specifications, tolerances, materials, and finishing processes (e.g., anodizing, penetrant inspection)
Use CATIA for extracting design intent for ERP system management.
Lead the implementation, customization, and continuous improvement of the ERP system for manufacturing-related modules (e.g., MRP, shop floor control).
Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for the ERP system, ensuring data integrity and accuracy of critical manufacturing data, such as Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings.
Provide training and support to end-users to promote effective adoption and proper use of the ERP system.
Collaborate with the IT department and other business units to ensure the ERP system meets overall organizational needs.
Inventory and material management
Coordinate with 3rd party logistics/warehouse contractor for that oversite of inventory control procedures, including cycle counts and physical inventories, to ensure a high level of accuracy.
Work closely with the procurement team to manage material requirements and ensure a steady supply of raw materials and components.
Develop strategies for managing WIP (Work-in-Progress) and finished goods inventory to balance service levels with inventory investment.
Coordinate with 3rd party logistics/warehouse contractor on the implementation of lean inventory practices, such as Kanban, to optimize material flow and reduce waste.
Industrial Engineering
Ensure Industrial Engineers are aligned to business KPI reporting.
Lead I.E., towards collaborations with IT driving automations ensure continuous flow of information that is not individual driven vs system driven.
Build and monitor staffing plans and ensure they are reviewed monthly with department managers.
Team leadership and development
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of production planners and inventory control specialists.
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the team.
Conduct performance evaluations utilizing Trakstar Perform and manage departmental staffing needs.
Continuous improvement and reporting
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles to optimize production processes and reduce costs.
Blend Theory of Constraints management into production flow to ensure best material flows.
Coordinate with IT on driving reports on production performance, inventory levels, and ERP system metrics to senior management via automated systems vs individual efforts.
Analyze historical and forecasted demand levels to improve production and inventory plans.
Qualifications and skills
Basic Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a production control, materials planning, or manufacturing environment.
Proven experience with ERP systems, including implementation, maintenance, and process optimization.
At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience is required
Preferred Experience
Professional certification, such as APICS Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM), is highly preferred.
10 years' experience in production control or materials planning.
5 years' experience in a supervision roll of production control or materials planning.
SME or high level of experience with the Epicor ERP system.
Technical skills
Expertise in manufacturing-focused ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Epicor).
Proficiency in production methodologies such as MRP, Lean Manufacturing, Theory of Constraints, and Six Sigma.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable reports using tools like Microsoft Excel.
