Summary: The Account Manager will report to the Director of Sales and have a dotted line reporting relationship to the DC General Manager. He/She will work collaboratively with the Director of Sales and the DC General Manager in developing a business plan that will set out to achieve the mutually agreed upon sales and profit goals of their respective territory. The Account Manager will be held accountable for all sales activities that fall under his/her region including, but not limited to; maintaining existing customer relationships, increasing share of wallet within existing accounts, driving conversion opportunities for SPR, and soliciting new account opportunities.  

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain and keep in good standing all relationships with accounts in his/her territory.
  • Identify and solicit business from conversion opportunities and new accounts that may not currently be selling SPR’s programs and products today.
  • Responsible for forecasting revenue in his/her territory, goal setting on individual accounts and opportunities, and delivering on those revenues and goals.
  • Serves as a consultative partner to all IDC customers on business related issues both specific to SPR and the Office Products industry as a whole.
  • Expected to become an expert on all things related to SPR including, but not limited to; marketing programs, pricing programs, and contract management.  
  • Must have a basic working knowledge of SPR DC operations and how sales generated by his/her territory associate with a DC Profit and Loss statement.
  • Gain full competency of all SPR analytical and sales tools in order to effectively manage his/her territory.
  • Works effectively with all levels of leadership and management within SPR, including VP IDC, DVPs, Directors of Sales, GMs, Corporate Sales Team, Operations Manager and Office Managers.

Education/Experience: 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Wholesaling or other office products experience desirable.  

 

Language Ability: 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

Math Ability: 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.   Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills: 

Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-mail, Database software

 

Professional Interaction:

·Reports to the Director of Sales

·Takes direction from the Division Vice President, Director of Sales, and SPR National Accounts (if applicable)

·Establishes productive relationships with support personnel at the branch and HQ levels

·Proactively advises other S.P. Richards personnel, including those at HQ regarding local market issues
