About the Quality Assurance Engineer II Position:

As a Quality Assurance Engineer II, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. You will work closely with your scrum team to contribute to new features and troubleshoot medium-high complexity problems. Your ability to communicate effectively with team members, the product owner, and the scrum master as well as stakeholders will be essential in achieving our goals.

 This position is eligible for remote work, but quarterly travel will be required to Avalon's corporate office located in Tampa, Florida.

Quality Assurance Engineer II – Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Proficient understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes. 
  • Proficient with automation testing tools and scripting languages. 
  • Develop test strategies, plans, and maintain automation test data. 
  • Troubleshoot and debug medium-high complexity issues in the software 
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively to understand requirements and provide updates 
  • Ability to clearly document functionality and defects 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
  • Growth mindset with an eagerness to learn 
  • Mentor and guide more junior team members. 

Quality Assurance Engineer II – Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years in a healthcare or related organization
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, MIS, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Solid understanding of Quality Assurance Engineering
  • Proficient with one or more scripting languages
  • Solid understanding of the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle). 
    • Apply and help define QA methodologies and processes 
    • Ability to script in one or many scripting/programming languages 
    • Translate code commits and user stories into Test Cases 
    • Solid understanding of SQL and data validation 
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
    • Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables – ensures the ability to find the critical defects quickly. 
    • Basic understanding of HTTP/REST fundamentals 
    • Basic understanding of JSON/XML/YAML fundamentals 
    • Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum 
    • Proficient with standard business applications such as Word, Excel, etc. 
    • Mentors junior team members on processes and best practices. 

Quality Assurance Engineer II – Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to script in one or more of the following: JavaScript/Typescript (Preferred), Bash, Python, PowerShell
  • Working experience with E2E frameworks such as Playwright, Protractor, or Cypress. (Playwright preferred)
  • Working experience with Atlassian products such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket (or something comparable)
