The Department of Computational and Systems Biology (CSB) harnesses advanced computational methods and system-level analysis to address fundamental questions in biology and biomedicine. We are a new discipline at the interface between biological and computational sciences, aiming at the development and application of computational models, methods and tools to study biological systems behavior. Our department is dedicated to providing cutting-edge research experiences and training to students at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels.


Job Summary

Manages day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices. Works with, adapts, and installs scientific equipment in research laboratories. Develops and collaborates on routine projects and procedures. Manages inventory and equipment and performs budget functions.


Essential Functions

Manages day-to-day laboratory operations, onboard and train student scientists in basic laboratory techniques, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This position will maintain the operations of the lab and provide support for other scientists in the lab. In addition, he/she will developing routine pipelines for bacterial hybrid screens, biochemical assays for protein characterization, and tissue culture screens in common cell likes such as Hek293 and K562 cells. Works with, adapts, and installs scientific equipment in research laboratories. Develops and collaborates on routine projects and procedures. Manages inventory and equipment and performs budget functions. Physical Effort

Physical effort associated with wet lab work, i.e. standing while conducting experiments, sitting while working on computer, walking back and forth in the lab to sinks and microscopes, lifting packages less than 20lbs., etc.

Hiring Range: $65,000 to $75,000 annually
