New roman; size: undefined">The Special Mission Wing (SMW) Special Operations Advisory Team (SOAT) S4 Aviation Maintenance Trainer/Mentor shall implement and operate programs, practices, and procedures for developing optimal utilization of combat support, and combat service support personnel to ensure proper maintenance of all aircraft assigned to the SOAT. Trainer will assist the squadron with administering programs to train personnel on maintenance of assigned aircraft. When necessary coordinate class arrangements, conduct training classes, develop criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training and maintenance activities, and develop train the trainer classes for the Squadron Staff and maintenance personnel. Develop programs and practices to identify developmental needs including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments. If required, may use technical experts to assist in training.

New roman; size: undefined">Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training six (6) days per week for up to twelve (10) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while at CONUS work sites.

  • New roman; size: undefined">Train the S4 Aviation Maintenance Mentor shall advise the SMW SOAT Commander and shall directly Train, Advise, Assist and Mentor (TAAM) the SOAT Aviation Maintenance Officer while also assisting the Commander and their staff.
  • New roman; size: undefined">Shall work under the Supervision of the Special Operations Advisory Team S4, or designated representative, and while conducting TAAM of the SOAT Aviation Maintenance Manager on SOAT Rotary and fixed wing aircraft.
  • New roman; size: undefined">Principal duties include:
    • New roman; size: undefined">Assist the Aviation Maintenance Operations in support of Offensive, Defensive and Garrison Operations and Aviation maintenance procedures in accordance with applicable technical manuals, all applicable Afghan decrees and operating procedures.
    • New roman; size: undefined">Assist the development of Aviation safety programs, development of maintenance programs and the scheduling of preventative maintenance and services.
    • New roman; size: undefined">Development of repair and/or DART operations and the scheduling of preventive maintenance and services.
    • New roman; size: undefined">Provide technical assistance to ensure Equipment is repaired in accordance with standards using the proper placement and employment of Aviation maintenance personnel and repair parts.
    • New roman; size: undefined">Advise on planning and coordination of supported units, analysis and forecasting of Class IX requirements, and development of a combat readiness and sustainment program.
    • New roman; size: undefined">Provide assistance on monitoring, management, and reporting of maintenance and recovery operations, and on coordination for maintenance and recovery operations.
    • New roman; size: undefined">Provide advice on the development and analysis of Aviation maintenance Equipment readiness reports, on the completion and processing of Aviation maintenance required forms and documents, and on the development of the logistics annex for operations plans, operations orders, and SOPs.
    • New roman; size: undefined">Provide logistics focused presentations, assessments, reports and other products as required to U.S. military leadership in support of the Afghan Special Security Forces (ASSF) sustainment missions.
    • New roman; size: undefined">Complete training in Core Inventory Management System Enterprise Edition (CORE IMS-EE).
    • New roman; size: undefined">Review and provide input into MoD Decrees as processes, procedures, and the operational environment evolves.
    • New roman; size: undefined">Perform other qualified duties as assigned by the Special Operations Advisory Team.
    • New roman; size: undefined">Provide written reports that are clear, concise, and meaningful for all Aviation maintenance matters.

New roman; size: undefined">Required Qualifications:
  • New roman; size: undefined">Candidate must have a background in US military Aviation maintenance management with 6 to 10 years minimum experience in logistical operations at the battalion/squadron level or higher.
  • New roman; size: undefined">The trainer shall have had an occupational specialty equal to US Army 151 or service equivalent and served in the grade of CW3 or higher.
  • New roman; size: undefined">The trainer shall have experience and general knowledge of Aviation related technical data, industry practices, techniques and standards.
  • New roman; size: undefined">Special Operations experience is desired, with combat experience, preferably in Afghanistan.
  • New roman; size: undefined">Must have a minimum experience of 12 months working in Afghanistan, in any military capacity.
  • New roman; size: undefined">Competent with operating Personal Computer Skills & Microsoft Office
  • New roman; size: undefined">Excellent Leadership, Organizational & Program Mgmt Skills
  • New roman; size: undefined">Must possess a US Passport with at least 6 months of remaining eligibility
  • New roman; size: undefined">Must be able to obtain an Afghanistan Visa

As a business necessity, must successfully complete/maintain arming requirements including but not limited to: Psychological evaluation (initial evaluation & annual reevaluations); Completion of Civilian Arming Authorization Mgmt System (CAAMS) requirements/documentation & Arming Authorization Letter from US Forces AFG; Afghan weapons permit from the Afghan Ministry of the Interior
