Permanent Seasonal Wildlife Monitor ? Inuvik, Cambridge Bay, Hall Beach, Iqaluit, Goose Bay

Raytheon seeks Permanent SeasonalWildlife Monitors to support the NWS system O&M Contract.The positions will be based out of the five (5) Logistics Support Sites (LSS) in Inuvik, Cambridge Bay, Hall Beach, Iqaluit or Goose Bay.The successful candidate will be offered temporary assignments and may need to be flexible for travel within their zone or may travel across NWS Arctic zones.

Job Summary

You will be required to work in Northern remote areas and provide safety and hazard assessments in advance of field workers. Wildlife monitors will be required to travel to site and work from remote locations.

Desired Knowledge / Skill and Experience

You must be in good physical condition and able to walk long distances while carrying equipment.

Preference will be given to applicants with previous work experience in a remote wilderness setting with wildlife encounters ( ie: Hunter, trapper, guide outfitter, adventure tourism, camp safety officer / first aid attendant, etc )

Must be Standard First Aid trained, including CPR Level A, and hold a valid certificate.

Must hold, and obtain prior to scheduled start of work, a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL).

Must be comfortable working in and flying to remote Arctic locations via helicopter and/or smaller fixed wing aircraft.

Must possess serviceable safety boots that meet standards for workplace safety.

Must be familiar with safety regulations and practices.

Work Environment

Primary Threat: Polar Bears & Grizzly Bears

Ability to travel as part of a small team to and from locations

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including Fall Arrest Harness, as required

Ability to work under physically demanding, often adverse weather conditions in remote Arctic locations

Cultural awareness and sensitivity and an understanding of work in the Canadian Arctic.
