Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Capability Instrumentation Support JPMRC-IS operations support the Army?s USARPAC mission: to provide realistic joint and combined arms training focused on developing Soldiers, leaders, and units of the United States military for success on the 21st Century Battle Field. This experience includes capabilities of many of the world?s best systems integration and engineering in the technical integration of Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) training support. JPMRC-IS is seeking a full-time non-exempt (hourly) position working with the Life Cycle Contractor Support under the Warrior Training Alliance (WTA) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. The Ideal candidate shall possess both depth and breadth of skills ideal for this position mainly supporting the Observer Controller Communication System OCCS part of the JPMRC-IS both at home and deployed locations.
Performs duties as Senior Technician for JPMRC-IS P25 Land Mobile Radio (LMR) trunked system. Responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance, set up, configuration, performance optimization, and life cycle support.
Responsible for the maintenance and field repair of base stations, repeaters, mobile, and handheld radios, transmitters and other field repairable system equipment and components.
Directly responsible for the performance of field investigations to support engineering analysis.
Perform factory maintenance on systems as assigned.
Maintains updated knowledge in P25 trunked land mobile radio LMR systems
Create update and/or review technical field and maintenance reports, systems procedures at an ongoing basis as required.
Complete testing and system performance documentation.
Support and perform on-site commissioning, site acceptance and system testing.
Perform programming and configuration of all system components.
Create preventive maintenance tracking schedule for handheld P25 radios
Employ of a variety of specialized test equipment and complex electronic schematics and diagrams in conducting fault isolation, and use the data gained through the troubleshooting/repair process to prepare and revise maintenance instructions and procedures and to recommend and implement manufacturer/engineering changes.
May provide technical guidance and mentoring to lower level technicians.
Ensure all maintenance, training, supply and property process/practices supporting site operations are implemented and documented in MAXIMO.
Support quality/ISO, security and safety training programs and directives.
Any other duties as may be assigned.
Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Desired Education: Bachelor of Science with undergraduate work in communication or Electronics desired. P-25 System Maintenance and System Administration Training/Certification
Self-motivator who takes initiative to understand the JPMRC mission statement and how to effectively insert their skillset
Effective communicator willing to work with engineering and maintenance groups to create optimal procedures and practices as well as share their knowledge to lower level technicians

Five (5) years of experience in UHF Line of Sight LOS radio communications, (secure and unsecure), P-25 radio operations, hopping and single channel communications
Understanding and application of encryption aspects such as KMF,UKEK,TEK as they apply to secure radio transmission and reception
Understanding of analog Electronics, RF and radio theory to include Ohms law, principles of the Smith Chart, SINAD, FM deviation, Modulation Fidelity as it applies to systems and modules as well as radios and antennas
Understanding of RF propagation and theory as it applies to Line of Site LOS communications.
Diversified skillset including both multi-site RF communications and computer/network systems.
Use of various electronic communications test equipment including communications system analyzer, field service monitor, signal analyzer, network analyzer, RSS software, and spectrum analyzer.
Standards and practices of the installation, repair, and maintenance of Harris, Motorola, or M/A-COM LMR equipment to ensure effective and efficient operation of such equipment in a mission critical 24/7/365 environment while complying FCC Rules and Regulations.
FCC rules and regulations governing the use and repair of LMR equipment, including subscriber units and fixed network infrastructure.
Troubleshooting of malfunctioning communications equipment to sufficiently identify, resolve, and or repair malfunctions, returning equipment to a pre-failure state of operation in the shortest amount of time possible.
Read schematics, block diagrams, and flow charts in order to maintain or repair all supported electronic systems and equipment.
Windows, Non-Windows, and /or DOS based operating systems applications used in an LMR environment.
In addition to strong electronic and RF skill, a solid Networking background is required, up to and including LAN, WAN, WLAN, configuration management, etc.
Desired Experience: Military experience in USARPAC is desired. Desired training in operations and maintenance of FM radio and microwave backhaul systems. Previous experience in the use of MAXIMO and Microsoft Office software products is desired.
Desired Physical Abilities: Able to work long hours on a 7-day a week scheduled days or nights. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions throughout the USARPAC Area of Operation (AOR) (heat, cold, wind). Must be able to lift a maximum of 40lbs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Special Requirements: Possess and maintain a valid Driver?s License. Travel off road in company 4X4 vehicles and military tactical vehicles if required. Must be fluent in English.
