We are looking for a Cloud SME to analyze, design, evaluate, and plan the Marine Corps Information Environment Enterprise (MCIEE) Architecture & Information Technology Systems Architecture in order to optimize the enterprise information technology architecture. This includes in depth knowledge of the enterprise, logic, systems, programming, and components; and a broad range of knowledge of business, data, technology, applications and organizational views. Proven experience in all areas of information technology such as platform, operations, network, applications and security. Ability to work directly with the the customer to ensure the architecture meets customer business, technical, and functional needs and can be evolved and adapted quickly as requirements change.

This position requires an ACTIVE DoD Clearance

General Responsibilities:

  • Advocate and drive adoption of cloud platform and services in the organization, to include configuring Application Deployment Blueprints in a Private Cloud PaaS platform
  • Evaluate, create, communicate, and guide adoption of technology standards and tooling across organization that optimize the technology infrastructure and processes
  • Provide guidelines/best practices and direction to domain architects on business process, application architecture, database management and infrastructure
  • Operate across organizational groups to drive standardization of common approaches and best practices in order to deliver a services-based architecture that supports the customer?s business needs using a combination of virtualization, integrated build and deployment, and mixed use platforms
  • Design MCIEE Blueprint using fit-for purpose DoDAF views to describe the architecture, operational, technical, services, and data flow views
  • Apply commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) Information Technology (IT) best practices to establish standards and specifications that promote interoperability, improve information sharing, encourage capability reuse, and improve agility and innovation
  • Recommend critical enabling services to allow disparate architectures to operate as a virtually single, integrated information enterprise
  • Capture technical requirements, identify potential system improvements, and analyze emerging technologies for integration into the MCIEE
  • Evaluate technologies and determine strengths and weaknesses of technology architecture, implementation, and suitability with regard to the Marine Corps Information Environment vision
  • Develop white papers and information briefs as required

Mandatory Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor?s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or other related field (+12 years? experience), Associate's degree (+15 years? experience), or High School diploma (+17 years? experience)
  • An active Secret clearance
  • Practical experience with current IT paradigms such as Agile software development, Product Line Architecture, Service Oriented Architecture, Cloud technologies, and large-scale data
  • Practical experience utilizing Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) v2.0
  • Highly analytical and strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional teams

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Marine Corps policies and procedures
  • 3+ years of hands on-experience architecting and deploying complex distributed solutions in the cloud
  • 3+ years of designing and/or implementing cloud patterns such as IaaS, PaaS, DaaS, and SaaS
  • 10+ years of experience in specification, design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-scale mission critical distributed systems
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical professionals
  • Ability to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Other Skills Preferred: List in bulleted format
  • Hands-on experience with creating, documenting, and presenting complex architectures
  • Hands-on experience with developing and implementing highly-virtualized, cloud-based architectures
  • Experience with Deployment Automation for applications using scripts or tools like Puppet, Chef, or Salt
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, SMTP and other networking and transport protocols
  • Experience desinging and implementing cloud and web service technologies such as NSX, VMWare, VRA, vCenter, Hyper-V, and OpenStack
  • Eagerness to learn and grow skill set
