About the Position:
The Major Permits Specialist will be responsible for timely coordination of the permitting and licensing process for Complex Capital electric and gas projects for all US National Grid regions.
Engage, influence and maintain internal and external key stakeholder relationships that would support the siting process to ensure that Complex Capital electric and gas projects meet their deadlines and avoid Financial penalties.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Provide coordination and oversight over the content of all major petitions before siting boards and coordination authority over local permitting activities in New York State Jurisdiction.
Required to work very closely with the lawyers who will perform the necessary legal work in each case, as well as the engineering project teams and environmental staff to ensure that all requests for permits and licenses are filed in a timely manner.
Expected to interact and influence regulatory staff and key internal and external stakeholders in the NY jurisdiction in support of the permitting and licensing requirements of electric and gas Complex Capital projects.
Knowledge and Experience Required:

Experience with siting application processes
Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to siting issues
Experience conducting and influencing project filings at regulatory agencies
Knowledge of regulatory agency processes
Drive process improvements and change management
Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to build consensus, and manage expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills and the ability to write reports and develop presentations for internal and external Senior leaders.
Valid driver?s license with a safe driving history required.
A Bachelor?s degree related to Public Policy, business, marketing, public relations, communications, finance, economics or engineering. Law, advanced business (MBA) or engineering (Masters and/or Professional Engineering license) degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in siting application process.

Financial: Accountable for Major Permitting and Stakeholder Management of Complex Capital Delivery projects, worth circa $1.5 billion with an eye to apply processes to full Capital portfolio of $3.6 billion

Federal/ State/ Local Government, Energy Regulators, Specialist Services, Senior Stakeholders/Contractors.
