The Human Resources Manager (HRM) works as business partner across all HO departments to strengthen their talent bench, engage and develop associates and ensure we effectively mitigate HR risk. The HRM works in partnership and advises at all management levels to influence on organization structure, succession planning, associate development and engagement, change management, training, associate relations and HR policies and procedures. This is accomplished through supporting effective performance management practices, developing and executing training and assessment initiatives, effective conflict resolution, management development, effective communication, recognition/reward programs, and sound employment policies and practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Apply effective Human Resources expertise & practices to assist managers in resolving business problems. In partnership with department leaders, drive the creation and sustainment of organization structures that support the business and develop strong management bench.
? Provide leadership and guidance to managers to help drive Associate development and establish effective succession plans. Facilitate ratings calibration and talent review sessions that effectively assess talent, identify developmental gaps and assist in the succession planning process. Drive the effective use of talent management programs, monitor the associate performance review process to ensure compliance and consistency.
? Provide leadership and support to managers on policy interpretation and other associate relations matters, including but not limited to performance management, internal investigations and development needs.
? Work collaboratively with the department managers on associate relations? issues. Conduct both internal investigations and 360 feedback deep-dives when necessary. Review, analyze, and make recommendations regarding performance management trends. Review and evaluate all termination requests and Corrective Action performance management, exercising great care to ensure reasons are well documented and are not arbitrary or discriminatory. Provide appropriate feedback & coaching to managers regarding these requests. Identify root cause of associate issues and drive appropriate next steps to prevent recurrence.
? In partnership with department leaders, assist in establishing/maintaining highly engaged and highly functioning work groups. Review and analyze engagement data and relevant feedback to assist managers with identifying and eradicating barriers to department engagement.
? In partnership with senior leadership, use ADKAR principles to roll out and sustain change that ranges from individual teams to company-wide initiatives.
? Understand and apply constantly evolving Federal and State laws in conjunction with CarMax policies and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risk to the organization.
? Develop, organize and facilitate human resources best practices and programs to meet the strategic business needs of CarMax.
? Identify training gaps, assist in the development and evaluation of training programs and processes. Facilitate a variety of management development and organizational development classes, as needed. Guide, coach and train managers on a variety of topics/programs.
? Ensure appropriate job documentation for all positions. Assist business partners in the creation of career ladders that bring clarity to associate development and career progression.
? Partner with Compensation and Salary Administrators to ensure fair and equitable salary administration and the attraction and retention of talent. Monitor and review compensation guidelines, exceptions and act as a business partner in assisting/evaluating compensation requests. In partnership with the HRD, execute and/or support all compensation processes.
? Manage a wide variety of HR programs and projects, often acting as HR SME for HO initiatives. These programs are diverse and address recognition, talent selection, and associate engagement across the organization.
? Administer company-wide engagement programs, providing relevant training and resource materials, and ensuring wide participation in surveys.
? Assist in interviewing and selection of managers and other key positions. Drive execution of selection, hiring and on-boarding best practices.
? Monitor Human Resources reporting. Analyze data to assess trends and take action to address patterns.
? Act as an associate advocate. Establish and maintain trust by building effective relationships with associates at all levels of the organization.
? Build and maintain strong, effective partnerships across all levels of management.
? Deliver exceptional customer Service to all internal customers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
? Undergraduate college degree preferred
? 5+ years work experience in Human Resources, preferred
? Minimum of 3 years in an HR Generalist or a multi-location management role
? Experience in both project management and leading change a plus
? Proficient computer skills and moderate skills with Microsoft Office Suite
? HRCI Certification a plus
