Designs, plans, installs and supports network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design and system repairs. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Coordinates with vendors to fine-tune network stability and effectiveness. Interfaces with end-users and management, establishes permissions and workstations, performs security upgrades, and patches critical vulnerabilities in network systems.
Network Administrator, LAN / WAN Tasks:
Support operating capability of networks, both wireless and wired.
Respond to unplanned events that adversely affect the network or computing environment.
Oversee network infrastructure and monitor system reliability and performance.
Plan and implement network security, set up firewalls, manage host security, apply cryptography to network applications, and regulate file permissions.
Investigate, recommend, and install enhancements and operating procedures that regulate network availability.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
Familiarity with Windows 7 & 10 as well as Server 2008 & 2012 operating systems.
2 years of software maintenance, general system administration.
Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds in support of hardware installations and install new wire-runs in overhead ceilings and crawl spaces.
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field. May substitute experience for degree, i.e., no degree plus 10 years of related experience, Associate’s Degree plus 6 years of experience.

DODI 8570.1-M Compliance IAT level II (Security+)
Current DoD Secret Clearance (TOP SECRET eligibility will be required).
