About the Position:
To manage the change request process within Capital Delivery that allows changes to project baselines and add value by ensuring that the consequences of accepting any given change is understood before it is accepted. The role is also accountable for developing, agreeing and implementing a strategic approach to the reporting required across the projects in Capital Delivery?s portfolio. Deliver value by presenting reports that can be used by the Senior management team to make robust decisions to enable the baseline to be delivered efficiently and effectively.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Develop and implement a method of capturing and tracking change control requests raised conclusion.
Ensure an appropriate impact assessment is undertaken on the change to understand its consequences.
Map out a series of options and make a recommendation for discussion with ETAM / GTAM as to the way forward
Liaise with any parties involved to see if the recommendation is practical.
Ensure that all change requests have been signed off.
Provide expert advice on all aspects of change control
Ensure that change requests are accepted into the baseline workbook
Oversee all projects in the portfolio from 4.2 to 4.5 assigned to Capital Delivery
Develop an agreed approach for reporting across CD and gaining appropriate agreement on the way forward.
Implement and deliver the reports covering the portfolio.
Set out the monthly cycle of reporting required.
Set out the requirements and standard of information required to be supplied by PMCC and contractors
Provide project and programme reports to review meetings.
Ensure the data on the reports is robust in advance of publication.
Continually streamline the reporting process.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
7+ years? experience in project management, construction or schedule management or equivalent relevant experience.
A Bachelor?s degree or significant relevant project management, engineering and construction experience.
Considerable proven experience in earned value and other project measurement methodology
Has a track record of being able to create, automate and utilize data from multiple sources.
Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative, integrity and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors and regulatory representative
Valid driver?s license with a safe driving history required.
Knowledge of the typical projects that National Grid undertakes including their issues, typical durations etc.
Expert understanding of how individual projects interact with each other as a result of the National Grid outage plan
Good knowledge of the environment in which Complex Capital Delivery operates. Examples of this include health & safety legislation and planning legislation.
Must have Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills,
It is desirable but not essential that the individual would have knowledge of P6 Analytics, Microsoft Project and Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau or Oracle Business Intelligence. The ability to manage data through sharepoint is also advantageous.
