Subcontract Specialist

Applicants will be considered for the Principal Subcontract Specialist position or the Sr.Principal Subcontract specialist position based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements of the position.


Subcontract Specialists are responsible for the issuance and management of complex subcontracts/purchase orders in support of DoD/Government/DCS contracts and the management of supplier performance. Subcontract Managers are expected to manage suppliers in a fashion consistent with integrated supply chain models utilizing a cross functional Integrated Product Team (IPT), recognizing the role and value of each participant through the acquisition life cycle from requirements generation through product delivery, product support, and payment for various products and services. This position identifies opportunities and strategies to reduce risk and cost, including developing material cost reduction plans.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

?Preparation and issuance of solicitations (RFQs, RFPs and RFIs)
?Analyze quotations/proposals to perform price/cost analysis techniques
?Develop negotiation strategies and lead formal negotiations (Price, Delivery, Terms
& Conditions)
?Where applicable, establish requirement contracts and teaming agreements
?Place subcontracts/purchase orders of high complexity in accordance with all
regulatory (FAR/DFAR) and corporate compliance requirements
?Maintain strong business relationships with first tier subcontractors
?Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation plans and develop solutions to problems utilizing ingenuity, creativity and innovation
?Work closely with the Program and other functional groups (Operations, Quality, Engineering, etc) to obtain quality, compliant hardware on-time, with a focus on Affordability
?Develop plans to promote cost reduction initiatives and performance improvements (technical and quality) to drive flawless supplier execution for RMS programs

Required Experience, Skills & Education:

?A minimum of six (6) years of experience in a similar position or a business /leadership role
?Experience supporting business and functional deliverables
?Experience working collaboratively in a team based setting
?Experience working in a dynamic environment where you planned, organized and prioritized your work
?The ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers
?The ability to make decisions and solve problems
?Strong working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeŽ suite or similar software programs
?4 year degree from an accredited college/university


Desired Experience, Skills & Education:

?Familiarity working with financials, including budgets and cost details
?Procurement or other experience in a DoD environment (FAR/DFAR)
?Placement of Purchase Orders that are of a high complexity
?Experience participating or leading negotiations
?Management of Firm Fixed Priced contracts in a compliant and effective manner
?Perform Price and Cost Analysis
?Project management skills
?Working in a SAP based environment
