full-time employee contract
This is a Systems Engineer Senior Manager role for Orion Ground Operations Development and Execution.
The Systems Engineer Manager is responsible for identification of the ground operations required to service, integrate, test and launch the Orion spacecraft. Ground Operations for Orion start at the DD250 of the spacecraft elements to NASA and go through the return of the recovered Crew Module (post mission) back to the Kennedy Space Center. These requirements are communicated through ICDs, operational requirements (OMRS), engineering drawings, GSE identification (including design and functionality) and the Launch Site Support Requirements in the NASA KSC Program Requirements Document (KPRD).
The Systems Engineer Manager will lead a team of systems engineers with vehicle and operational experience in the development of those detailed requirements. This involves extensive cross-system (both internal and external to Lockheed Martin) and cross-program integration between NASA projects. As the contractor responsible for Orion MPCV processing, the team is also responsible for reviewing and facilitating the review and coordination of the operational procedures within Lockheed Martin and MPCV prior to the execution of the procedures.
The Systems Engineer Manager is also responsible for providing support to the NASA and its Ground Ops contractor during the actual execution of the operational requirements. This involves working closely with NASA and its Ground Ops contractor and extensive coordination between the Lockheed Martin and MPCV hardware owners during the execution of the operations to ready the vehicle for flight.
