Job Summary
The HR and Employee Services (HRES) HR Specialist II will provide payroll processing and guidance to the customer service team, employees, former employees, managers, and human resources partners. Additionally, responsible for processing the company’s more complex Payroll transactions, providing functional and analytical support for Workday, tax filings, and supporting the processing of payroll for the organization.
Position Responsibilities
Responsible for managing the payroll processing workflow in Workday to ensure all payrolls are calculated, audited, confirmed, and completed timely.
Perform payroll uploads, initiate and monitor payroll calculations, and balance internal and vendor integrations.
Support and provide subject matter expertise in the payroll processes including but not limited to direct deposit rejects, stop payments, Kronos time loads, etc.
Resolve payroll errors and discrepancies prior to finalization of the payroll processes.
Complete weekly Canada tax reconciliations and provide support to the payroll finance team.
Process timely and accurately US and Canada year-end reporting (T4, T4A, W-2, W-2c, etc)
Learn and provide back up support for garnishment and US tax processes.
Provide subject matter expertise in transactions and processes within the HRES payroll space
Provide high touch customer service.
Provide guidance to co-workers and support the integrity of employee records and Workday data by running various audit and processing reports and modify data as necessary.
Support team members within the HR and Employee Services (HRES)
Identify, suggest, document and implement ongoing process improvements.
Works collaboratively within a team to share ideas, ownership, and accountability for driving improvements and consistency of execution for key HR processes
Participate in scheduled and ad hoc training in order to improve policy and process acumen
Ability to accurately collect information in order to understand and assess the clients' needs and situation
Perform other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field, preferred in Finance/Accounting.
High school diploma, plus 3 years+ experience in HR-related field, required.
Excellent telephone manner with clear, concise and professional communication skills.
Demonstrate Payroll/Financial knowledge, as pertains to the company, providing customers with relevant information, policy explanation and navigation support.
Previous experience in a centralized HR Shared Services environment is a plus
Demonstrate analytical/problem solving skills (e.g., structure the problem, collect data, identity issues, and present results)
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to interact with clients and HR Service Center team members.
Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
Self-motivated and independent problem solving ability
Experience with Workday or other HRIS systems preferred
Spanish speaking skills, desired
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
Ability to work in a change-filled environment and manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, required
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
