Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's of Science degree or Technology degree in Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience is required.
Additionally, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for a controlled billet in accordance with DoD Instruction 5210.42 Nuclear Weapons Personnel Reliability Program (PRP).
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire and must meet eligibility requirements for a Top Secret clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Network Engineering Specialist. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation?s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
Perform system administration functions.
Maintain network integrity and connectivity; ensure compliance with information security policies and maintain system backup and recovery capability.
Assist in managing the usage and performance of voice, video and/or data communications networks.
Manage networks with industry standard platforms, network performance analysis, Cisco IOS network configuration, and network troubleshooting
Works as individual contributor using defined resources to meet project requirements
Gathers and organizes data for review with appropriate engineer(s) in support of project
Accepts direction from superiors
Integrates well in a team environment
Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting and repairing of devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems
Prepares and coordinates the plans and schedules for new or existing programs
Resolves proposal preparation problems and assesses the progress against established plans and parameters
Formulates and recommends corrective action measures such as schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, fund allocations, and work requirements
Participates in engineering teams supporting system design, materials, equipment setup and maintenance and related issues
Provides technical expertise to customers, users or company personnel either at field sites
Develops, implements, installs, tests, modifies and/or operates complex equipment and systems
Develops test plans and preventative maintenance programs
Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system
Experience with VMware management and virtualization products.
CompTIA Networking+ / CCENT, CompTIA A+, CCNA, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician, MCSA are a plus
User and security management with Active Directory and Group Policies
Familiarity with configuring/troubleshooting servers, Cisco routers/switches, VLAN routing, TCP/IP, and security protocols
Experience with information assurance ? HBSS, ACAS, WSUS
Networking technologies (Cisco, Linux, Windows Server)
Database Management (Oracle, MySQL)
Familiarity working under or a part of configuration management, and or change management controls
