Description: This position is responsible for the management of Lockheed Martin's Aviation insurance programs and providing general risk management support to the Corporate Headquarters. The position at Lockheed Martin reports to the Director, Risk Management located in Bethesda, MD. The principal responsibilities of the position are as follows:
? For each assigned line of insurance: Collect renewal data; prepare applications, underwriting submissions, and renewal presentations; prepare renewal planning reports for Lockheed Martin management; oversee negotiations with carriers; prepare final renewal proposals for management approval; and obtain and review appropriate documentation for binding of coverage. Review policies for compliance with negotiated terms and prepare insurance summaries and any necessary communications to the business units. Manage the reporting and adjustment of claims. Ensure both internal and external compliance with all policy administration, reporting requirements and applicable legal requirements. On an ongoing basis, identify and assess Casualty risks of all types throughout the Corporation and lead efforts to implement additional types or levels of coverage where applicable.
? Manage a corporate-wide program of aviation risk containment. This includes the development of performance standards for all parties involved in the claim handling process, negotiation of contracts with service providers, coordination with supply chain, follow-up on implementation of improvements, evaluation of the effectiveness of the overall aviation risk management structure, and providing appropriate education and support to the business units on aviation risk matters. Participate in crisis response processes to preserve aviation assets in the event of natural disasters or other potential loss events.
? Provide frequent, regular and ongoing contractual risk transfer guidance and insurance recommendations with respect to all commercial and military agreements, contracts, RFP?s, and other negotiated instruments.
? Provide the following risk management support to the both the Corporate Headquarters and the Aeronautics business area: Identify risks through review of contracts, develop appropriate risk management strategies, and document risk review through written analyses. Support M&A activity as necessary. Respond to business units' ongoing risk management service needs; provide evidence of insurance coverage as required by contracts, leases, etc.; respond to questions regarding scope of Lockheed Martin insurance coverages; and arrange surety bonds where appropriate. Assist in preparation of filings for SAFETY Act Designation and/or indemnification under Public Law 85-804.
The selected applicant is expected to maintain a high level of technical expertise in each of the assigned lines of insurance and in cost and loss containment, and a familiarity with insurance law and basic litigation management. Must possess a highly developed level of insurance coverage knowledge and be able to perform coverage reviews and provide accurate coverage analysis to the business.
Desired Skills: - Master's degree in related areas
- An MBA, CPA, or CPCU designation or insurance brokerage license would be considered a plus.
- 15 years minimum experience in corporate risk management, insurance brokerage, or insurance company operations
- Knowledge of LM systems and processes.
- Business acumen with strong focus on finance.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
Basic Qualifications: - 10 years minimum experience in corporate risk management, insurance brokerage, insurance company operations, and/or significant experience in the finance department of an aviation related business.
- Strong familiarity with aviation insurance concepts, as well as basic Property/Casualty insurance coverage concepts and strong technical expertise in aviation claims and loss processing including claims management and cost containment
- Related Bachelors degree
- Familiarity with U.S. Government contracting practices and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (?FAR?) as well as familiarity with DOD Form DD250; Government Ground and Flight Risk provisions; Public Law 85-804; and the Government Contractor?s Defense.
- Familiarity with both fixed wing and rotor wing aviation risk related issues.
- Effective Project Management skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
