The Mechanical Producibility Engineer (MPE) will work directly with Mechanical Engineering, Materials, Processes and Producibility as well as Drafting & Design, Operations, Quality and others. The MPE will implement mechanical producibility strategies for new and emerging programs as well as upgrades to existing programs. The MPE is an integral part of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) and may be called upon to lead Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) workshops. In this position, you may be called upon to coordinate early builds of prototype hardware and will frequently interface with Senior Program Management, IPT Leads, and Functional Leadership.
Note: This position can be a Salary Grade G09 (Sr. Mechanical Engineer II) or a Salary Grade G10 (Principal Mechanical Engineer) based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
Required Experience and Skills:
Six (6) years of producibility engineering experience
Working knowledge and thorough understanding with the implementation of ?near net shape? technologies like investment, RPM, die, and sand casting processes as well as the forging processes for ferrous and non-ferrous materials
Working knowledge of supplier development and coordination, process capability trade studies, cost estimating, rapid prototyping, and multi-axis CNC machining
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
The ability to obtain a DoD Security clearance with the ability to attain special program clearance and access
U.S. Citizenship is required
Desired Experience and Skills:
Eight (8) years of producibility engineering experience
Experience with composite technologies including material and process research, fiber orientation, and vacuum bagging
Experience with injection molding and other non-metallic materials
Experience with forming and welding of exotic materials
Project management experience
Certified in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
An Active DoD Security Clearance
Required Education (including Major):
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline
