About the Position:
Represent National Grid in NYISO stakeholder meetings and on various external committees. To provide subject matter expertise in support of the development of regulatory strategy and advise the New York and FERC Jurisdictional Businesses on emerging energy policies and pending regulations that materially impact Niagara Mohawk customers and company.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
This position will focus primarily on representing National Grid?s interests at the NYISO, FERC, NYPSC and at various NY Transmission Owner and utility meetings.
Identify and summarize regulatory filings at the NYPSC and FERC that materially impact our New York and FERC Jurisdictional Businesses. This task often times requires consultation with other utilities, attorneys, and appropriate internal departments.
Provide regulatory and analytical assistance to other areas of the company, in particular, the Jurisdictions, Transmission, Legal, Government Relations and NGV.
Identify key themes and potential impacts from emerging energy policy.
Perform research on state / federal regulatory policies and filings in order to support the company?s position in its regulatory filings. Work with internal business partners to translate their needs into well-defined requirements of our regulatory strategy.
Build upon technical professional skills within all areas of Strategy and Regulation in order to continually grow your personal contribution to the business.
Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid.
Develop and implement studies to support regulatory, NYISO tariff, and pricing proposals in the context filings, stakeholder presentations, and other regulatory proceedings to ensure National Grid?s position is effectively pursued.
Promote and implement procedural best practice in order to ensure all working practice (and where relevant, health and safety standards) are compliant with National Grid policies and regulatory requirements.
Prepare, maintain and submit written information on regulatory proceedings and external meetings in order to ensure internal stakeholders are kept up to date with relevant policies, processes and programs.
Keep up to date with regulatory developments and identify regulatory precedents, key regulatory themes and trends in order to ensure the optimization of best practice for National Grid.
Develop and maintain tariff and pricing analytical capabilities, models and procedures in order to support design solutions and enhance time/consistency/safety/efficiency and operability.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders in order to share best practice, provide technical advice and build bases of influence.
Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area.

Review and produce written positions that clear establish the company?s position within regulatory filings.
Develop tariff and policy specifications, criteria and options, and evaluate those options to support senior management decision-making in the application of regulation strategy, in NYISO Tariff amendments.
Develop the criteria, framework and standards for the analytical studies to support regulatory, tariff and pricing proposals to ensure National Grid consider all options as consistently and efficiently as possible before designing and implementing any new policies.
Research and analyze key themes from a wide range of regulatory proceedings in order to identify how different regulatory scenarios may impact the business.
Translate regulatory and tariff/pricing changes into clearly defined business cases in order to support achievement of any implementation objectives effectively.
Contribute to the identification and formulation of strategic objectives specific to Strategy and Regulation, in order to drive change and innovation within National Grid.
Support the leadership, motivation and development of a professional team of analysts to ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and business objectives.
Keep regulators and other relevant parties up to date and informed on National Grid regulatory programs in order to ensure they are managed appropriately and in line with regulatory requirements.
Develop and utilize peer group network in order to absorb and apply technical/professional best practice within regulatory area, including regulatory developments and precedents.
Knowledge & Experience Required :
Employees are expected to have the knowledge & experience listed below.
A degree in law or bachelor's degree in economics, finance, engineering, or related field and up to 7 years of related utility RTO/ISO experience, or equivalent work experience.
Expert within their field. Extensive and significant knowledge of regulation and system planning, operations, and prior regulatory experience in the development and propose RTO/ISO tariff changes. .
Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation. Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation.
Extensive knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices. Knowledge of division policies, processes and fields of work.
Expertise in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Frequently travel necessary (e.g. Albany, New York City and Washington DC).
