Description: Lockheed Martin Aeronautics has a rich heritage of producing the finest military aircraft ever created. The successful applicant will lead the rapidly evolving, multi-functional centralized Advanced Computation and Simulation Engineering team, which is critical to support the company?s preeminent and future aircraft programs, including the F-35. This team is updating the LM Aero High Performance Computing (HPC) environment, including hardware architecture, governance, and strategy. This team also develops and modernizes software tools for a variety of technical competency areas and computing platforms.

A passion for computational engineering and simulation, a mindset for outreach, the championing of strategic and innovative initiatives, and resolution of critical process and technological issues are needed to achieve the objectives for this organization. Analytical thought leadership will support practical application of advanced computation, simulation and analytics to drive standardized solutions for complex issues.

Strong working relationships are needed to support the computation and simulation vision, foster achievement of related Line Of Business (LOB) objectives, address implementation issues, and maintain enterprise roadmaps for multi-discipline strategies. Close coordination with technical leadership and industry is required.

The successful applicant will manage the team to produce innovative solutions (advanced computation, complex simulations, machine learning, artificial intelligence, advanced visualization, etc.) that support overall company objectives and align with current and future business needs. This role involves working across LOBs, functional disciplines and Information Technology to ensure proper project prioritization, risk management, resource allocation, tool standardization and talent pipeline development.

Must be a US citizen. This position requires special access and will require a Secret security clearance after starting.
Desired Skills: ? PhD in Computational Engineering or Computer Science
? Ability to navigate complex stakeholder needs across organizational boundaries
? Experience in the HPC industry, including familiarity with new and emerging trends that impact compute-intensive modeling and simulation and strategic industry relationships
? Demonstrated appropriate risk taking and an aptitude for introducing positive disruption in business processes, technologies, and operational approaches.
? Experience in one or more aspects of computational mechanics (e.g., equations solvers, multi-scale approaches, data structures, finite element methods, structural dynamics, electromagnetics, coupled physics, etc.)
? Knowledge of HPC software stack standards, key market implementations and associated vendors
? Theoretical understanding of machine learning, data analytics, and artificial intelligence
? Understanding of common analytic platforms and governance, best practices and standards required to support business needs
Basic Qualifications: ? Advanced degree in Computational Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
? Experience in developing software tools across the life cycle including requirements development, deployment, testing, maintenance and user support, with emphasis on parallel software development
? Experience with computational modeling and simulation algorithms
? Experience in defining strategic goals, plans, roadmaps, and objectives
? Experience with written and presentation communications to an executive-level audience
? Experience in team leadership including building, managing, and motivating teams, and development and implementation of staffing plans and budget proposals. Must be willing to develop team members through coaching/mentoring, training, and performance evaluations.
